Manchester Chartered Accountants Student Society
A lot of you may not be aware that as a chartered accountant student in the Manchester area you are automatically a member of the Manchester Chartered Accountant Student Society (M.C.A.S.S.). As part of your training contract you are automatically enrolled in a society that is run by students for students.
MCASS is run by a group of chartered students just like yourself who meet up once a month to discuss any matters arising that affect local chartered students and also, and some would say more importantly, to arrange a variety of social events, many of which seem to revolve around alcohol!
The purpose of these pages is to keep all Chartered Accountant Students in Manchester and the surrounding area bang up to date with all the latest news, happenings and forthcoming events.

MCASS Annual 5-a-side football tournament - 13th April 2010It’s that time of year again for our annual 5-a-side football tournament.
The event will take place on Tuesday 13th April at The Pitz - Powerleague in Ardwick. The evening will begin with registration at 6:30pm and all games during the evening will be officiated by professional referees. Entry is just £70 per team which includes trophies for the winners and runners-up and all players will receive a free drink at the bar!

MCASS Annual Dinner - Thursday 25th March 2010Following on from the sucess of last year’s Annual Dinner we will be once again holding this event at the Hilton hotel on Thursday 25th March 2010.
This year’s Ball will be held at The Hilton Hotel in Manchester on Thursday 25th March 2010. We have decided to adopt a Big Band theme which brings with it the promise of elegance, decadence and glamour.
Alongside a 12-piece big band, MCASS will be welcoming Howard Wing an accomplished performer with a refreshing approach to swing classics. A DJ will be on stage to carry the party on until the bar closes at 2am.
As with the rest of the industry, ICAEW trainees have faced a horrible 12 months. However, in the face of these difficult conditions trainees in Manchester have continued to enjoy fantastic exam successes, and support at MCASS events has grown considerably. We will be using the annual dinner as an opportunity to celebrate the sucesses of all trainees across the region, and will be awarding exam prizes to the highest achievers. We would appreciate it if you could join us to congratulate your fellow trainees and pat yourselves on the back for a fantastic year.
Tickets are £60 per person not including wine (We’re still tinkering with the menu to get it ‘just-so’ but we will release it as soon as possible - I promise you that it’s a good one!). Invites have gone to all the training partners in the region, and bookings are starting to coming in. Even if your firm hasn’t decided to support the event, why not grab some friends and come along anyway?

Christmas Champagne Celebrations - Thursday 10th December 2009MCASS will be holding a lavish Christmas party this year at Epernay in the Great Northern Towers on Thursday 10th December.
MCASS events have been getting bigger and better this year, and this will be the biggest and best yet. Firms might be cutting back their budgets for Christmas parties, but MCASS has decided to dig deep and spend our savings! We have quite literally gone all out.: We’ve hired one of Manchester’s best venues, bought lots of free champagne, and booked some fantastic live entertainment. We’re also going to throw in a further 3 free drinks vouchers and a top-notch buffet to keep you going while you party the night away.
It’s Christmas, so use this as an excuse to dress to impress, be merry and party hard. This will be one Christmas party you won’t forget!
