Manchester Chartered Accountants Student Society
A lot of you may not be aware that as a chartered accountant student in the Manchester area you are automatically a member of the Manchester Chartered Accountant Student Society (M.C.A.S.S.). As part of your training contract you are automatically enrolled in a society that is run by students for students.
MCASS is run by a group of chartered students just like yourself who meet up once a month to discuss any matters arising that affect local chartered students and also, and some would say more importantly, to arrange a variety of social events, many of which seem to revolve around alcohol!
The purpose of these pages is to keep all Chartered Accountant Students in Manchester and the surrounding area bang up to date with all the latest news, happenings and forthcoming events.

Christmas Champagne Celebrations - Thursday 10th December 2009MCASS will be holding a lavish Christmas party this year at Epernay in the Great Northern Towers on Thursday 10th December.
MCASS events have been getting bigger and better this year, and this will be the biggest and best yet. Firms might be cutting back their budgets for Christmas parties, but MCASS has decided to dig deep and spend our savings! We have quite literally gone all out.: We’ve hired one of Manchester’s best venues, bought lots of free champagne, and booked some fantastic live entertainment. We’re also going to throw in a further 3 free drinks vouchers and a top-notch buffet to keep you going while you party the night away.
It’s Christmas, so use this as an excuse to dress to impress, be merry and party hard. This will be one Christmas party you won’t forget!

Halloween Party - Friday 16th October 2009
Friday 16th October saw Manchester’s trainee accountants come together for a Halloween themed fancy dress evening to welcome new starters to MCASS. Vodka Revolution on Oxford Road was filled with spookily dressed accountants for a completely free event of drinks, grub and more general merriment!
With extra funding secured from the ICAEW and more free drinks offered than ever before, needless to say there was a fantastic turn out as over 200 trainees attended! An MCASS record! It was a great opportunity to meet new people from different firms, not to mention, a great opportunity to take advantage of the free shots.
Timed with the release of professional stage results, the celebrations were in full swing, prizes for the best dressed were awarded and the new starters were given a taste of the society- all in all a great evening!

MCASS FREE Comedy Night - Thursday 17th SeptemberMCASS invite you to join us at The Comedy Store on Deansgate Locks next Thursday (17th September) for a night of FREE comedy. The show will start at 8pm so we advise arriving between 7pm and 7:30pm.
Entry to the show is totally free for MCASS members but unlike our normal events there will be no free food or drinks on offer on the evening (lack of sponsors, sorry!!) The night should still be a good one with plenty of laughs from the comedians.
