5-a-Side Football 25th March 2009
March 25, 2009
The annual football tournament is always a hotly anticipated event with a chance for the lads (and girls) to fight for pride. Having been losing finalists in the previous 2 years, PwC Manchester were hoping to go one better and take the trophy however they only managed to reach the first stage knock out, losing 3-1 on penalties to Grant Thornton.
This year saw PwC Liverpool enter a team and they soon found their form, winning all their group games. Straight through to the next round, they were due to face Deloitte who mistakenly thought they’d been knocked out and didn’t show so it was an automatic 3-0 win to PwC Liverpool.
Ernst & Young made good progress with a convincing 5-0 win over Grant Thornton in the semis and eventually met PwC Liverpool in the final. PwC quickly took a 2-0 lead however were pegged back but eventually showed their strength and went on to collect the trophy with a 5-3 win.
MCASS President and tournament winner, James Hankin, thanked all those for participating and also Sphere Group for providing funding for the event.
