MCASS events have been getting bigger and better this year, and this will be the biggest and best yet. Firms might be cutting back their budgets for Christmas parties, but MCASS has decided to dig deep and spend our savings! We have quite literally gone all out.: We’ve hired one of Manchester’s best venues, bought lots of free champagne, and booked some fantastic live entertainment. We’re also going to throw in a further 3 free drinks vouchers and a top-notch buffet to keep you going while you party the night away.

It’s Christmas, so use this as an excuse to dress to impress, be merry and party hard. This will be one Christmas party you won’t forget!

Friday 16^th October saw Manchester’s trainee accountants come together for a Halloween themed fancy dress evening to welcome new starters to MCASS. Vodka Revolution on Oxford Road was filled with spookily dressed accountants for a completely free event of drinks, grub and more general merriment!

With extra funding secured from the ICAEW and more free drinks offered than ever before, needless to say there was a fantastic turn out as over 200 trainees attended! An MCASS record! It was a great opportunity to meet new people from different firms, not to mention, a great opportunity to take advantage of the free shots.

Timed with the release of professional stage results, the celebrations were in full swing, prizes for the best dressed were awarded and the new starters were given a taste of the society- all in all a great evening!

Entry to the show is totally free for MCASS members but unlike our normal events there will be no free food or drinks on offer on the evening (lack of sponsors, sorry!!)  The night should still be a good one with plenty of laughs from the comedians.

MCASS and MTSG are proud to invite you to its inaugural ladies netball tournament on Sunday 13 September at 10.45 at Manchester Velodrome. All abilities are welcome.

Entry is £2 per person on the day and games will run from 11am until 2.30pm followed by a prize ceremony.

MCASS are happy to announce our annual summer BBQ.  This year we will be holding the event at Rain Bar again on Wednesday 22nd July at 6pm.  The evening will cost £6 and include a fantastic BBQ and free drinks.  There will also be a raffle held on the evening.

18^th June 2009 saw the eclectic mix of Manchester’s young professionals come together for drinks at Baa Bar on Deansgate Locks. Manchester trainee Solicitors’ Group teamed up with MCASS for an evening of chat, shooters and general merriment.

A bar tab of £1000 was set up by MCASS and needless to say there was a fantastic turn out! It was a great opportunity to meet new people from different firms and different industries, not to mention, a great opportunity to take advantage of the free shots.

This event sees the beginning of more regular events being organised for trainees of the professional firms in Manchester, as MCASS team up with other societies for a more diverse participation in events for young professionals from the North West.

Trainees: Don’t forget that as a student in a registered ICAEW firm, you are automatically a member of MCASS. The events are funded by local and national sponsors and therefore heavily subsidised which means a great bargain and fun evening for you! This year the AGM had a great turn out with people from both small and large firms turning up to vote. Over 100 people attended the event and remained for the evening to participate in the Pub Quiz. With the new venue being the Pitcher and Piano in Manchester and a more sociable theme being the Pub Quiz the turn out for voting was higher than ever before!

The newly elected President of MCASS Dhruv Patel took on the roll of Quiz Master for the night and was organised by his fellow committee members Rebecca Biggins, Nicola Soden.

A New Committee a New year!

The last few months at MCASS have seen lots of innovation - a new format for the annual dinner, a brand new website, a new small-firms network, with the creation of two new committee positions being the small firms’ rep and the sports representative.

Going forward MCASS are increasing our collaboration with the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group thus resulting in bigger and better social networking opportunities.

These really are exciting and busy times for MCASS, and this is all evidence of what can be achieved in a relatively short period of time. MCASS are really starting to make our mark and are building a bigger and better society which we and our members can be proud of.
