Masquerade Ball Feb 2009
February 12, 2009
February saw the highlight of the MCASS social calendar – the Annual Dinner. Held at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate, the 2009 dinner was bigger a better than ever. This theme was a Masquerade Ball and everybody got into the spirit and dressed for the occasion. Guests also enjoyed a speech from Claire Young, who will be more familiar to many as the runner up from the 2008 season of ‘The Apprentice’.
The President (James Hankin, Ernst & Young) and guests were welcomed into room to a to the theme tune from ‘Rocky’ and rapturous round of applause. The President and Chairman (Joe Harper, PwC) made brief speeches and thanked those involved in the organisation of the evening.
Following dinner, the customary Loyal Toast and Toast to the Institute were made. This year saw the introduction of a prize giving ceremony to acknowledge the achievements of those who had excelled in the ACA exams, including a couple of students who achieved 100%!!
The Charity raffle was drawn in aid of Action for Children who benefited to the tune of over £1,200.
Finally, the disco kicked off and finished at 2am which was too soon for many. The event was a great improvement on the previous years annual dinner and really enjoyed by everyone.
Looking for to next years’ dinner!
