MPF Open - Round 1

Hazy sunshine greeted the participants at the first round of the MCASS sponsored MPF Open at Portal Championship course. Representitives of BDO - BRS, Deloittes, BDO Audit, KPMG and the MPF all turned out to compete for the privilege of playing in the Grand Final in October. Deloittes teed off first to accommodate Jonathan Roberts who had tickets to see Kylie. Understandably they set a blistering pace! After ½ hour everyone was safely underway and all arrived at the 10 th hole for the longest drive competition…

The first to arrive were Deloittes who set the standard again with Rick Harrison hitting a monsterous 245yd drive… No-one challenged this until MPF arrived with Duncan Watt and Dominic Cassidy coming close, but failing to beat Rick. The next challenge was the nearest to the pin at the well defended 14 th Again Rick led the way but was soon surpassed by Mark Wardrop of BDO with a 14ft effort. Again it was not until the final team arrived that Andrew Collis (ex-Deloittes) playing for MPF played a trick shot off a tree to roll the ball within 5½ ft of the pin and win.

After a sumptuous buffet in the club house the scores were totted up and BDO – BRS were declared the winners with an impressive score of 109. They progress to the final where they will await the winners of the July and Sept events…
