MPF Open - Round 2

Another sunny day heralded the second round of the MCASS sponsored MPF Open at Portal Championship course. Slightly depleted numbers saw representitives from two departments of Baker Tilly and PWC battle it out for a place in the Grand Final in October. Baker Tilly teed off first, all making one of the two fairways… A tournament and the resultant slow play meant that 3 hours later all reached the 10 th hole for the longest drive competition…

Baker Tilly’s Alan Crowshaw set the pace with a controlled 220yd drive (with an Iron). Successive Drivers were blasted down fairway culminating in a massive 280yd drive by Ollie Wright of PWC, who unfortunately bounced 6 inches off the fairway… The next challenge was the nearest to the pin at the well defended 14 th . With the tee having been moved to a more challenging position everyone struggled to find the green, many MP branded balls will find their way into the “ Lake Balls” basket in the pro shop. PWC’s Adam Hansen was the only one to find the green and left himself with a 40ft put, netting a respectable par.

After bar snacks and a bit of Wimbledon viewing on the WideScreen in the club house the scores were totted up and a combined team from Baker Tilly and PWC were declared the winners with a score of 116, narrowly beating the winning score from Round 1. They join BDO-BRS in the final where they await the winners of the Sept event…
